Sunday Igboho Drags Gani Adams to Court over Defamation

…. Seeks N500m Damages

Foremost Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has dragged the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, to court over alleged defamation of character.

The separatist leader brought Adams before an Oyo High Court sitting in Ibadan, through his team of lawyers led by J. A.Sanusi.

Igboho prayed the court to award a compensation of N500 million against Adams for alleged defamatory statements against him.

He equally demanded the payment of the sum of N10 million naira to him, as cost of litigation.

Igboho said Adams accused him of being a serial killer and assassin for top politicians, including President Bola Tinubu, in an audio conversation in November 2021.

Igboho, however, denied the allegations while urging the court to declare the content of the audio clip as slanderous against his character.

The Yoruba Nation agitator’s lawyers observed that it is unlawful and inexcusable for the Defendant (Gani Adams) to defame, disparage and put to disrepute the character and reputation of the Claimant in an audio clip published on all new media platforms.

They equally asked for an order of the court requesting the Defendant to publicly retract the purported slanderous and libelous content contained in the publication to Nuru Banjo which was further published on all new media platforms including YouTube where the Claimant was defamed and disparaged.
