Ugbo Lambasts Iyere over Death Threat Allegation

…., Says Kennedy shouldn’t be taken seriously

A human right activist, Elder Curtis Ugbo has denied the allegation levelled against him by the governorship candidate of Accord Party, AP, Mr. Kennedy Iyere that he is sending him death threats.

Ugbo’s reaction is contained in a statement he issued out and made available to TREND REPORTERS.

The AP gubernatorial candidate had alleged that Ugbo resorted to sending him death threats, after he and others failed to substitute him with his running mate, Bright Enabulele.

Reacting to the accusation, Ugbo noted that Iyere’s allegation is meant to malign his character and misrepresent his intentions.

The statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to publications trending online that I have threatened to kill Comrade Kennedy Iyere over issues bothering on finance.

“I want to state here unequivocally that Comrade Iyere’s claim according to the report is aimed at maligning my character and misrepresent my intentions.

“The three-man conspiracy mentioned by him is a figment of his imagination as it has nothing to do with me, he has been having problems with the party since after the primaries because “Kennedy Iyere did not spend a kobo before and after the primaries” and he has been owning them, he refused to pay the money for the Nomination and Express of Interest Form even two weeks after the Governorship primaries was conducted on the 17th February, 2024 and the party threatened to replaced him with his Deputy, Dr Bright Enabulele after due investigation and consultation on issues of credibility bothering on finance. And Dr. Bright Enabulele was asked by the party to pay the N7 million naira and he paid it which Kennedy Iyere couldn’t pay and It was discovered that he owed a lot of persons even outside the party money, even my humble self and some other persons in the party that used their hard earned money to rescue him during the primary that brought him in as the governorship candidate. The Accord Party in it’s wisdom deemed it necessary to recall him as they cannot field a candidate that can not be trusted with public funds when eventually elected into office as governor.

“Instead of paying us our money back and thanking us for standing by him in his moment of need, he resorted to insulting and roping us up by alleging that I have sent him death threat message and also deleted the message, as soon as I discovered he has read it. Is that not too childish?. Was it my fault that his habits of owing people, without intentions to pay caught up with him? Was it wrong to have reminded him to pay back money he owed?

“Iyere is owing us money, he refused to pay. I sponsored his primaries and promised that he is going to return my money, he’s owing me over three million naira; he’s owing one Tony Okon over 1.8 million naira and one other Osagie Osazuwa, two hundred thousand naira. Since after the primaries we have not seen Iyere till now, even I was told he was in Benin, he refused to come and pay me my money, instead he’s insulting me, insulting everybody, threatening everybody. He’s the one threatening that he will kill his head, he can’t kill me because he’s owing me money; he has to pay me my money, am asking him to pay me my money, that’s all. I don’t have any problem with him.

“Tell him to pay me my money, its him that wants to kill himself. He should pay me what he’s owing me. I have already reported him to the police, I’ve reported him to the Palace of the Oba of Benin. He will come and tell the world if he’s owing me or not, if he says he’s not owing me, let him come and swear before the gods of the land.”
