Social media giant, Twitter has disclosed that its free blue “verified” checkmarks for notable users might finally end.
Elon Musk had hinted at removing the “legacy” checkmarks that confirmed users’ identities like government officials, corporations, celebrities, journalists and other high-profile twitter users.
“On April 1, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks,” the company tweeted on Thursday.
The social media giant further stated “To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue.”
Twitter Blue is a subscription service that Musk reestablished late last year, costing individuals $84 a year or $8 a month.
