The Senior Pastor, Banner of Solution Christian Assembly, Benin, Apostle Emmanuel Igiehon has said that to stabilize Nigeria economically, leaders should be humbled and seek the face of God for mercy.
Apostle Igiehon made this assertion while speaking to our Correspondent in Benin on’ Nigeria at 61′.
He said that there is no reason to celebrate Nigeria because the system has failed it’s citizens greatly.
“There is nothing worth celebrating in Nigeria. The system has failed us. Educationally, infrastructurally and economically. The people are living below standard, insecurity, no job for youths. How can this situation call for celebration. Is this the country our founding fathers fought for in 1960.
No power, Nigeria can not boost of power supply for hours. What is the essence of celebrating? We are celebrating failure, even the President himself is not helping matters. Is it the devaluation of the naira. Now a dollar is almost 600 naira.
Apostle Igiehon who frowned at the level of insecurity in the country and how it has crippled the country agriculturally and otherwise stressed that Nigeria at 61 calls for sober reflection on how we got to where we are and how corrections can be made.
“There is no peace in the country, herdsmen, bandits, and general state of insecurity everywhere.
Instead of celebrating Nigeria at 61 we should be doing sober reflection; where did we mix it? That is the question we should be asking ourselves.The law is not applicable to everybody, sacred cows everywhere. The same people that made the law are the ones breaking the law. A country where you can not critic government. Celebrate a country where there is no respect for human rights.
“Right from the religious leaders to the congregation no respect for God. The church is supposed to be a shining example. A country where fuel is being imported on a daily basis. The price of fuel is high this is a country that God had endowed with oil. We can not process crude oil we just import for consumption. No good healthcare people are dying everyday. Is that the country we should be celebrating at 61? .”
Apostle Igiehon who attributed the problems of Nigeria to Nigerians themselves recommended restructuring as a panacea to the problems crippling the country.
” We are the cause of our problem, if we can enbrace restructuring the economy will bounce back. A lot of efforts were made towards this direction during the time of President Ebele Jonathan but it didn’t see the light of the day.
“Few days to independence no obvious sign of preparation. No body has hoisted the flag, school children are not practising match past to commemorate the day. People are angry. But if we will turn from our wicked ways, God will have mercy on Nigeria”, he added.
