Super Eagles, Argentina Friendly Match Called Off

Super Eagles, Argentina Friendly Match Called Off

The eagerly awaited clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the reigning world champions, Argentina, has been called off.

Reports indicate that the cancellation stemmed from logistical challenges, specifically the insufficient time to secure visas for the Nigerian delegation.

Initially slated to be held in China, the venue was shifted to the United States of America due to a dispute involving Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, and Chinese authorities.

However, despite the change in location, the match couldn’t proceed.

In place of the Super Eagles, Argentina will now face off against Costa Rica, while they also have another friendly fixture scheduled against El Salvador in March.

For Nigeria, the cancellation means they must swiftly find a replacement opponent as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic scheduled for June.
