Philadelphia Shooting: Five killed, Two Injured after Man Opens Fire

Five people were reportedly killed and two others injured after a man wearing a bullet-proof vest opened fire in the US city of Philadelphia.

According to the report, the man, aged 40, was carrying an AR-15-style rifle, a handgun, a police scanner and ammunition.

The suspected attacker, who is now in custody, has no known connection to the victims and, with no clear motive, the shooting appeared to be random.

Police were called to the city’s south-western Kingsessing area on Monday.

Speaking on the incident, Police Commissioner, Danielle Outlaw stated “When officers responded, they did identify and find some gunshot victims.

“As they were scooping up the victims and preparing them for transport to hospital, they also heard multiple gunshots.”

Officers then chased the suspect on foot while gunfire continued to ring out.

The development led to the damaging of parked cars and littering of the streets with shell casings.

The suspect then surrendered, after he was cornered in an alleyway by the police.
