The Federal Government is to relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better space, security, and infrastructure.
Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this when he visited the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre.
The minister emphasized that it was imperative to relocate a lot of the correctional centres to a more conducive environment.
He said the ministry is already working behind the scenes to build a better correctional system and assured that the incident would never happen again.
“This could have been avoided if the right information was disseminated at the appropriate time on the structure.
“I was not appointed to make excuses; I was appointed to take responsibility, and we are not shying away from taking responsibility.
“We will get them back and we will ensure this doesn’t happen again anywhere in the country,” Tunji-Ojo pledged.
