Edo Govt Speaks on Harnessing Nigeria Trillion Dollar GDP Dream

Edo state Government through her policy drive is to harness the Nigeria trillion Dollar GDP dream in the professional built environment.

The state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki made the remark at the 54th annual conference of the Nigerian institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers in Benin City in Edo State.

The governor who was represented by the state commissioner for Housing, Urban and Regional planning, Mrs. Isoken Omo, disclosed that the Edo State Government has put an end to the nefarious activities of Community Development Associations, CDAs, in various Communities in the State, which had in the past hampered development.

While noting that the his administration had reviewed the state land administration policies, governor Obaseki stressed that the relationship with the Nigeria institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers was key in harnessing Land wealth.

He urged participants at the conference to continue to engage in knowledge transfer to future generations.

Also speaking, President, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Mr. Johnbull Amayaevbo revealed that the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has made it mandatory and considered it illegal for lawyers to manage properties.

He observed that Estate Surveyors and Valuers have the knowledge, capacity and ability to help government harness the wealth of the country from her land and called on Government at all levels to give listening ears to professionals.

In his paper presentation entitled: “The role of valuation and standards in achieving the trillion dollar GDP Dream” a keynote speaker, chief Nicholas Talbot, stated that Nigeria has the capacity through the right valuation to create wealth in the sector if properly harnessed.
