A Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered that a teenager, Joshua Olayiwola be remanded in Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town.
The court gave the order following an alleged report that he defiled his eight-year-old neighbour’s daughter.
It was learnt that Magistrate, Mrs. S. A. Adesina, who did not take Olayiwola’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction, ordered the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji told the court that the suspect, on April 15, between 8am and 10 pm allegedly defiled the minor in the Ojo Ekun area of Ibadan.
According to her, the offence contravened the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.
In the meantime, the court has adjourned the matter until June 13, for mention.
