A butcher in Adamawa State, Ibrahim Abubakar has stabbed his wife to death with a knife.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday, April 8, at about 4:30 am.
The 33-year-old suspect had accused his wife, 25-year-old Hajara Sa’adu, of taking his phone before he stabbed her to death.
Confirming the incident Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the butcher stabbed his wife and left her in a pool of blood.
He also said the suspect, who resides in the Sabon Gari area of Girei Local Government Area stabbed the deceased around her back repeatedly.
Nguroje explained that the suspect was arrested after a report to the police by the father of the deceased.
The PPRO noted that preliminary investigation had led to the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime which the suspect had used in perpetrating the crime.
He further stated that the suspect had willingly confessed to the act and expressed the regret of having killed his wife and mother of their only child.
While expressing disappointment over the incident, the police image maker assured that the command will diligently prosecute the culprit.
