An 18-year-old woman, Saudat Jibril, has been arrested by operatives of the Kano State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband, Salisu Idri.
The woman was accused of slitting her husband’s throat with a sharp knife in the early hours of Tuesday.
A release by the state’s police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealed that the incident occurred at about 12:35 a.m. in Farawa Quarters, Kano.
The police spokesperson stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, upon receiving the report, quickly deployed a team of detectives to the scene, while the victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The police further said the suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section.
While reaffirming that criminal acts would not be tolerated in the state, the police commissioner assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted and the suspect charged in court for the offense of culpable homicide.
