The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
The lawmakers made the confirmation on Wednesday, after hours of screening.
During her screening, Kekere-Ekun promised to sanitize Nigeria’s judiciary system.
The new CJN was screened and cleared by the senators at the Committee of the Whole, in accordance with section 231 (1) of the Nigerian constitution.
Senate president, Godswill Akpabio thereafter congratulated the news CJN and urged her to uphold the integrity of the Nigerian judiciary.
With her confirmation, Kekere-Ekun becomes the 23rd CJN of Nigeria.
