Women in Rivers State on Friday embarked on a protest against the declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
The irate women who described the emergency rule as a politically motivated move aimed at undermining democracy also called for the reinstatement of Siminalayi Fubara as governor of the state.
The women, led by Nancy Chidi Nwankwo, argued that the situation in the state did not pose any genuine threat to national security.
The group requested the immediate restoration of all democratic institutions in Rivers State and appealed to Nigerians to intervene and urge President Bola Tinubu to reverse what they termed a grave injustice.
They restated their commitment to peaceful resistance, assuring that they to continue their stand in defense of freedom, justice, and self-determination.
