President Bola Tinubu has been urged to review the emergency rule in Rivers State and reinstate suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s full authority.
Some muslim leaders in the state made the appeal during a visit to the governor at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Monday, as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The delegation, which comprises muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stressed that Governor Fubara has continued to lead the state effectively despite the political crisis.
A member of the group, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, who spoke on behalf of the Muslim Ummah assured Governor Fubara of their unwavering support.
Uhor encouraged Fubara to remain resolute, as believers are tested through wealth, power and authority just as it is contained in Islamic teachings.
