The police in Anambra State said it has arrested all the suspects involved in the kidnap and murder of Hon. Justice Azuka.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement.
TREND REPORTERS had earlier reported that a combined team of security men found the decomposing body of the lawmaker.
Speaking on the arrest of the kidnappers and killers of Hon. Azuka, the police spokesperson disclosed that his abductors killed the lawmaker after collecting a ransom of N100 million from him.
According to Ikenga, the kidnappers who killed the Anambra lawmaker withdrew ₦100 million from his account before murdering him on December 26, 2024.
He stated that they shot him twice in the head, noting that a nurse residing in Asaba assisted in withdrawing the money, while a native doctor in also residing in Asaba prepared charms for them.
Ikenga further said the gang leader was living with the native doctor inside his shrine in Asaba.
The statement by the police PRO partly read: “All six suspects have been arrested and none of them are above 30 years old.
“The nurse has also been apprehended, and her pharmacy sealed.
“The native doctor has been arrested as well. All the suspects were living in Asaba, except one who resided in Oba.
“Over three additional bodies were found alongside Hon. Justice Azuka’s remains.
“The suspects confessed that they typically kill their victims after collecting ransom,”
Meanwhile, The Delta State commissioner of police, Nnaghe Obono Itam has commended his men for their efforts.
He assured residents of the state of police’s commitment to continually rid the state off criminals.
