The Nigerian Government has declared Tuesday, October 1, as a public holiday to commemorate the nation’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary.
The declaration is contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, on Saturday in Abuja.
In the statement, Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo felicitated with Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion.
The minister applauded Nigerian men and women for their patient and hardworking, assuring that their sacrifices would not be in vain.
He emphasized the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of their heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead.
While wishing Nigerians a happy independence celebration, Tunji-Ojo urged them to continue to be steadfast in nation-building.
