The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare the second has officially announced the suspension of 67 (sixty-seven) enigie (dukes) with immediate effect.
The announcement is contained in a statement by the secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement, the suspension of the enigie was largely due to their rebellious activities to balkanize the throne and the kingdom.
It would be recalled that the suspended dukes, led by professor Gregory Akenzua and Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen have challenged the suspension in court.
