Plateau State University Bokkos, PLASU, has received approval for six new academic programs by the National Universities Commission.
Acting Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate of the institution, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best made this known during the 92nd regular meeting of the Senate on January 10, 2025.
He disclosed that the NUC had authorized degrees in Medical Sciences (MBBS), Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharm D.), Statistics (B.Sc.), and Religious Studies (B.A.).
According to Professor Best, the university also received the endorsement of professional bodies for its newly established programs in Law and Nursing Sciences.
The Vice Chancellor credited the success to the support of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, noting that his commitment to PLASU’s growth has played a crucial role in achieving the milestone.
The approval of the new academic programs follows a series of resource verification visits conducted by the NUC in 2024, to assess the university’s preparedness to offer the new programs.
