NSCDC Trains, Inaugurates 1,472 New Personnel
One thousand four hundred and seventy-two personnel of the Edo State Security Corps from 13 Local Government Areas of Edo state have completed their training and inaugurated into the corps to improve the security of Edo state.
Five Hundred More personnel from the remaining 5 Local governments are set to resume their training on Monday, at the Police Training College Ogida Barracks
The one thousand four Hundred and seventy two personnel were trained on various security tactics at the NYSC Orientation Camp Okada, by men of the Nigerian Army, 4 Brigade for 2 weeks before their passing out.
Charging the personnel during the passing out parade, Governor Monday Okpebholo represented by his deputy Mr Denis Idahosa urged them to display a high level of professionalism to reflect the training they had received.
Mr Idahosa noted that the state government was confident that the training they received from the Nigerian Army would greatly improve the security of the state, especially the rural communities.
Mr Idahosa acknowledged that the Okpebholo administration decided to reconstitute the State’s Security Corps due to its politicizing by the previous administration, and promised that the government would provide all security Logistics and equipments to safeguard the state.
Earlier in his keynote address, the Chairman of the reorganization Committee Edo State Security Corps Rtd Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe Represented by Rtd Major General Victor EGbelame noted that the corps recruited 1,600 personnel, but only 1472 were successful in the 2 weeks training.
The Edo State Security Corps governance law 2024 was passed to establish the security outfit, to assist the police in intelligence gathering and low level operations to curb criminality in the state.
