The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug trade in Kano.
To this end, the agency has intercepted large consignments of narcotics and arrested multiple suspects in a series of operations.
A statement released on Sunday by the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest of two suspects, both 23 years old, at Gadar Tamburawa on Zaria Road on February 3.
According to the statement, the operatives recovered 15,396 pills of tramadol concealed inside a gas cylinder.
Babafemi also stated that operatives of the agency also arrested a female suspect, aged 35, with 27 blocks of skunk, in another operation on the same day at Sabon Gari area of Kano.
The agency also intercepted a shipment of 12,800 pills of tramadol 250mg heading to Shuwarin in Jigawa State.
The consignment was seized by NDLEA officers patrolling the Kabba-Obajana Highway in Kogi State on February 8, leading to the arrest of a 33-year-old suspect.
The NDLEA spokesperson also disclosed that operatives recovered 65 parcels of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 1.6kg.
Meanwhile, the NDLEA, beyond enforcement, has continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization activities across Kano and other states in worship centers, Schools, workplaces, and communities, among other locations.
