The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Taraba State has arrested no fewer than 353 suspects over different illicit drug-related offences.
The arrest were made between June 2024 to date.
The state commander of the agency, Ali Umar, disclosed this at a press briefing to mark the 2025 United Nations International Day of War against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Umar stated that the agency also confiscated at least 3,125,875 kg of different types of hard drugs, including cannabis sativa and psychotropic substances.
The NDLEA commandant further remarked that the command identified and destroyed cannabis sativa farms in eight local government areas of the state.
He observed that the war against drug abuse is a must-win for the agency, noting that they had secured 53 convictions of illicit drug dealers.
Umar added that the convictions attracted varying jail terms at the federal high court, Jalingo, with others still under trial.
