The Nasarawa State Police Command has commenced the implementation of the mandatory third-party motor insurance for vehicle owners in the state.
The command’s PPRO, SP Ramhan Nansel, told journalists on Sunday, that the enforcement commenced on Saturday, 1st February 2025, across the state, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
“This action is in line with the directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to all Police Commands and Formations, mandating the strict adherence of all motor vehicle owners to the third-party insurance requirement as outlined by law.” he stated.
Nansel further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has urged on all vehicle owners and operators who are yet acquired the third-party insurance to do so immediately, so as to avoid legal consequences and promote road safety for all.
The Nasarawa State Police Spokesperson added that CP Shetima also expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation from the public so far and emphasized the importance of continued adherence to traffic regulations.
