The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized unregistered food products valued at over N3.8 billion.
The seizure was made during a raid on a warehouse situated in Apongbon Oke Arin Market in Lagos.
In a statement on Tuesday, the agency revealed that the operation was carried out by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate following a tip-off about the sale of unregistered food items at the facility.
The agency noted that the seized items valued at N3,818,802,720 have been impounded.
It further stated that the warehouse has been placed on hold pending further investigation.
While noting that the warehouse management has been summoned for questioning, NAFDAC urged the public to remain vigilant during the yuletide and report suspicious activities to it’s nearest office.
