Nigerian skit maker and rights activist, Adebowale Adedayo, A.K.A. Mr. Macaroni has reacted to reports that the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, threatened a corper who criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
A Lagos-based corps member, Ushie Uguamaye in a now controversial TikTok video on Saturday, expressed displeasure over the deteriorating economic situation in Nigeria.
Uguamaye who questioned the government’s commitment to easing the economic hardship, described President Tinubu as a terrible leader.
Shortly after the viral video, the corps member disclosed that she has been receiving threats from NYSC officials, pressuring her to take down the clip.
In his reaction to the development, Mr. Macaroni in a post on X stated that every Nigerian, including corps members, has the right to hold Tinubu and other leaders accountable.
In the post addressed to the NYSC DG, coordinators and officials, the Nigerian skit maker and rights activist insisted that every Nigerian citizen, including corps members have the right to hold Tinubu and other leaders accountable.
“You cannot threaten, intimidate or victimise any corper for expressing views on the performance of the president. They’re citizens with rights! The president is in the office to serve every Nigerian. Corper or not, has the right to hold their leaders accountable!!!,” he stated.
