Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly molesting a nine-month-old girl in Potiskum town.
The public relations officer of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this on Friday in a statement.
The statement observed that the suspect identified as Ibrahim Shaibu Goni allegedly took the child from her mother and committed the heinous act, leaving the child with noticeable lacerations.
It further stated that the suspect have been taken to a medical facility for examination.
Meanwhile, the state police commissioner, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act and assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted and justice will be served.
He called on parents to be vigilant about their children’s safety and cautioned potential perpetrators that stricter penalties await them.
