The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has said it is not a sin nursing an ambition to become the governor of Lagos in 2027.
The former speaker of the Lagos assembly made the remark during a press briefing at his residence in Lagos on Saturday.
Obasa called on leaders in the state to tell Lagosians when and where he told to them that he wanted to succeed the incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly also criticized the militarisation of the assembly complex during the impeachment process.
He pointed out that his removal from office as speaker took place in his absence when he was out of Nigeria.
Obasa was impeached as Lagos speaker on Monday, January 13, 2025, when more than two-thirds of the 40-member legislative house voted him out over alleged misconduct and sundry offenses.
His’s deputy, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, was thereafter elected the new Speaker,l.
The development made Meranda the first female to take charge of the legislative body in Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria.
