Lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have explained why they impeached Mudashiru Obasa, as speaker of the house.
The lawmakers gave the explanation while addressing journalists with the Assembly Complex.
According to them, Obasa was impeached to save the integrity and sanctity of the House of Assembly and Lagos State.
TRREND REPORTERS had reported that Obasa was impeached on Monday.
Addressing journalists, the lawmakers stated that it was just a change of baton, noting that it is only death that is constant.
“The members of parliament today decided to change the leadership of the House and you know that the constitution made it clear that the House has the power to regulate its proceedings.
“So the members of the House felt that they have had enough of Obasa and today we have unanimously agreed that Miranda should become the new Speaker of the House,” the lawmakers stated.
The lawmakers further said all the principal officers of the house and standing committees have been dissolved following the development.
They added that the impeachment of Obasa was done unanimously.
