Some residents of Ughonoba Community in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo state have appealed to the State Government and other relevant stakeholders to address incessant kidnapping and the deplorable state of Public Secondary schools in the area.
The residents also expressed displeasure over lack of other critical infrastructures in the area.
According to some residents of Ughonoba, an agrian community, noted for farming, kidnapping in recent times has been the order of the day, aside lack of infrastructural facilities and Chieftaincy squabbles bedeviling the community.
A youth Leader in the area , Mr. Eliot Ikponmwosa disclosed that the situation had developed to a worrisome dimension following the activities of herdsmen in the area and lack of public infrastructure in the community.
Mr. Ikponmwosa further alleged that the community may be heading towards crisis as one Mr Victor Ogiugo is reportedly parading himself as the Enogie of the dukedom.
He alleged that the said Mr. Ogiugo has sold most of the lands in the area to herdsmen, a development that has led to the destruction of their farm produce.
Another resident, Mr. Sunny Obasuyi stated that despite communal self efforts in providing security in the area, activities of herdsmen has made life unbearable for them.
Reacting to the allegations, the Enogie of Ughoneki Ikpoba dukedom, His Royal Highness, Chief Victor Ogiugo described allegations against him as false and baseless.
