TCN Announces Power Outage in North-East

Four out of the six states of the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria have been plunged into total darkness.

According to report, the outage which commenced at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 10, is expected to last until 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 14.

Business activities have been crippled in the affected areas of Adamawa, Taraba, Borno and Yobe states, due to the development.

Reacting to the situation, the management of Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, disclosed that the outage is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, carry out critical upgrade works on the Jos-Gombe 330kV and Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 132kV transmission lines.

The management. listed the project to include the installation of new towers at the Bauchi 330kV station and the crossing of an existing 132kV line.

Major areas currently in total blackout across the affected states are Damaturu, Molai, Yola and Jalingo.

The YEDC pointed out that their respective injection substations will be without power during the maintenance period.

The electricity company expressed its appreciation to members of the public for their patience and understanding during the planned disruption.
