FG Closes Independence Bridge in Lagos for Maintenance

The federal government has announced the closure of the Independence Bridge (Marina bound) in Lagos to allow for essential maintenance and rehabilitation works.

The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, who disclosed this in a statement in Lagos, said the bridge would be closed starting April 1 until the end of May 2025.

While stating that the closure will affect traffic from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan by Zone 2, Kesha advised motorists to use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion during the repair period.

The federal controller apologized for any inconvenience the closure might cause.

She thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation as the government worked to ensure the safety and stability of road infrastructure.
