The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a 15 percent tariff increase, the first in 32 years.
Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Abubakar Dantsoho disclosed this on Thursday in Lagos during the stakeholders’ engagement.
He noted that the 15 percent ports tariff increment is across the board.
Dantsoho, who was represented by the Executive Director of Marine and Operations, Olalekan Badmus, disclosed that the ports authority had maintained the same rates for over three decades despite significant economic changes.
According to him, such economics changes include exchange rate fluctuations, fuel and lubricant costs, rising wages and inflation.
The 15 percent ports tariff increase comes weeks after the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, approved a telecommunications tariff hike of 50 percent.
