Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, has died in a car accident in Spain.
The incident occured two weeks after he got married to his girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.
TREND REPORTERS gathered that the 28-year-old was travelling in the vehicle with his brother, Andre.
It was said that the car went off the road on the A-52 in the province of Zamora.
The liverpool forward was part of the squad that won the Premier League title in May during Arne Slot’s first season.
Police have disclosed that they are investigating the cause of the incident, noting that there were no other vehicles involved.
Jota who made 182 appearances for Liverpool since joining from Wolves in 2020, lifted the Premier League title in May.
In his five years at the club, he had also won the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.
Jota has also played 49 times for Portugal in international competitions. He scored 14 goals and helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and again last month.
