…… Emphasizes Inclusiveness in Healthcare
The Edo State Health Insurance Commission, EDOHIC, has enrolled over four hundred and fifty orphans across the three senatorial district of the state into the state’s health insurance scheme.
The commission made the enrolment as part of activities to mark this year’s Children Day celebration.
During a State wide outreach,, the Director General, Edo Health Insurance Commission, Mrs Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo, emphasized the importance of inclusiveness in healthcare, noting that every child deserves a healthy start in life.
The Edo Health Insurance Commission visited five registered orphanages and three government health facilities spread across the three senatorial districts bringing hope and health-care support to vulnerable children.
EDOHIC also settled outstanding hospital bills for several children whose parents or guardians could not afford payments after treatment.
The intervention provided immediate relief to the affected families and reinforced government’s commitment to universal health coverage for all.
A proprietor of one of the orphanage visited, Sir. Nathaniel Cole thanked the governor and Edo Health Insurance Commission for the show of love and enrolling about 150 orphans in the orphanage as the move has brought great relief to the home especially medical expenses incurred before now.
One of the beneficiaries of the benevolence of the Director General of EDOHIC, Mr. Uromi Eriaremien Ekpenbor whose child is on admission at the Edo Specialist Hospital appreciated the governor and the DG for coming to their aid to offset the medical bills incurred.
