No fewer than fourteen kidnap victims have been rescued by the police in the Agenebode axis of the state’s border with Ajaokuta, Kogi state.
A statement by the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, CSP Moses Yamu, stated that the Kidnappers on Friday blocked the Fugar-Agenebode Road, abducted some passengers and killed two persons on the spot.
The statement explained that a combined security operatives from the Agenebode Police Area Command, Vigilante and Hunters intercepted the Kidnappers around the Obe Hill by pipeline leading to Ajaokuta, and engaged them in a gun duo.
According to the release, a twelve year old girl was fatally shot by the fleeing kidnappers during the crossfire, while One female victim is still unaccounted, as efforts are ongoing to ensure her safe rescue.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the bravery and swift response of the combined security team.
He assured members of the public that those involved will be apprehend and made to face the full wrath of the law.
