The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Mrs. Betty Otimenyin, has expressed concern over recent cases of spouses violence against each other and assured the public of diligent investigation in the death of a woman recently killed by her husband in Benin City.
A statement by the Police Public Relation Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Mr. Moses Yamu, disclosed that the police received information that a fifty year old Mr. Kelvin Izekor of number 50 Upper Mission extension, Benin City allegedly killed his 38 year old wife, Mrs. Success Izekor.
The statement noted that Operatives of the Aduwawa Division swiftly responded to the report and met the lifeless body of the woman lying in the pool of her own blood with deep cuts in her head.
It further said efforts by the Police operatives saved the suspect from being lynched by an irate mob.
The suspect was thereafter taken into custody for investigation, while the victim who was rushed to the hospital, was confirmed dead.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Otimenyin has assured that whoever would be found culpable upon conclusion of police investigation would be made to face the full wrath of the Law.
