Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has presented N605. 7 billion budget estimates to the state house of assembly for the 2025 fiscal year.
The budget proposal which represents 25 percent increase from 2024 budget is christened “Budget of Renewed hope for a Rising Edo”.
Governor Okpebholo said capital expenditure would take N381 billion, representing 63 percent while recurrent expenditure would gulp N223 billion, representing 37 percent.
He noted that his administration would make a huge impact on road construction pointing out N162 billion had been earmarked for that sector across the state.
He appropriated N48 billion for Education, N63.9 billion for Health sector, N1.8 billion for Health Insurance scheme, N 4.5 billion for Agriculture and N500 million for Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma as monthly subvention for its revival.
Receiving the budget estimates, Speaker of the House, Mr Blessing Agbebaku assured the governor that the house would expedite action on the budget.
Mr Agbebaku also expressed the readiness of the House to work with the governor for the good of Edo people.
