The media team of Asue and Ogie Campaign Organization has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agents of collaborating with the All Progressive Congress, APC, to rig last Saturday Governorship Election in Edo State.
Addressing journalists in Benin City, the Director-General, of the campaign organization in charge of Social Media, Rev. Olu Martins noted that the decision of the media team to brief the press was necessitated by agitations from the party’s teeming supporters, both at home and abroad, desiring to know the next the line of action it will take.
He described the election results as announced by INEC as a rape on democracy.
While noting that form EC8A is the most important form in the election, the media aide stated that members of the public followed up the results that was uploaded into the IREV from the form which have the records of all the votes cast in all polling units.
Rev. Olu Martins alleged that the rate at which security agents harassed and intimidated PDP members at the collation centers was designed to manipulate the election results.
He frowned at a situation where Oredo, Ikpoba- Okha and Egor collation centers were allegedly relocated to INEC headquarters in Benin and PDP agents were not allowed to enter.
The Asue-Ogie media director stated that the PDP is closely studying the results of the governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and that the party will give an update in due course.
While declaring the election as the worst in the history of Nigeria, Rev. Martins stated “We hold President Tinubu responsible for what happened. because he promised to give Edo State to APC during his campaign in 2023.
