Edo State 2025 appropriation bill has passed second reading in the State House of Assembly.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebolo had on Tuesday, 10th of December, 2024 presented a budget estimate of 605.7 billion naira to the legislative chamber.
During consideration of the bill, minority leader of the House and member representing Owan East Constituency, Mr Eric Okaka said the bill had received public acceptance for addressing the deplorable condition of several roads in Edo State.
He stated that the budget was structured to fix many deplorable roads in the state.
The lawmaker pointed out that the governor being proactive had allocated a total of one hundred and sixty-two billion naira for road infrastructure in 2025 budget estimates.
Similarly, the member representing Esan North East 1 Constituency, Mr Isibor Adeh supported the minority leader, noting that the commendable Renewed Hope budget included a significant increase in the monthly subvention for the highly prestigious Ambrose Ali University, raising it from forty-one million naira to five hundred million naira.
Other members who expressed their strong support for the bill included Mr Sunday Aghedo (Ovia South West Constituency), Mr Kingsley Ugabi (Etsako East Constituency), Mr Richard Edosa (Oredo West Constituency), and Mr Jonathan Ibhamawu (Esan West Constituency).
Also at plenary, the House received three letters from the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to consider and confirm four nominees for Edo State Sports Commission, four nominees for the Edo State Board of Internal Revenue Service and three nominees for Edo State Local Government Commission.
The Speaker, Mr Blessing Agbebaku referred the confirmation of members for the three commissions to the Committee on Rules and Business for consideration.
