The senior pastor Banner of Solution Christian Assembly, Apostle Emmanuel Igiehon, has urged those in positions of authority to imbibe the spirit of love and sacrifice, as demonstrated by the Lord Jesus Christ, who left His exalted position to suffer and die for the sins of mankind.
The cleric gave the advice in his Easter message.
He expressed displeasure over a situation where those in leadership positions amass wealth to themselves at the detriment of those they represent or claim to serve.
“We should live a life of love. Jesus did what He did base on love. All that He went through was done based on love. He left His exalted position because of love. He was humiliated because of the love He has for mankind. That is why He did that. And I believe no man can do that apart from Christ. He is the only Person.
“If you receive Jesus and you are in a position of authority you would not amass wealth for youself. The reason why some government officials amass wealth for themselves is because Christ is not in them. If Christ is in them, they would do what the masses needed.
“They would build infrastructure. They would make sure that the environment is conducive for people to live. They would make sure there would be security; they would make sure lives and properties are well protected,” he stated.
While urging those in leadership positions to live a life of love, Apostle Igiehon expressed the belief that doing so would make them to be concerned about the security, health, and general well-being of their followers.
While expressing the view that good followership would result in good leadership, Apostle Igiehon called on Nigerians to contribute their quota to nation building by exposing bad leaders and living right.
The cleric cautioned against bad behaviors in order to make the society a safer and better place for all to live.
“I want to see everyone during this Easter celebration enhancing their love. Those in government should enhance their love. Don’t eat alone and forget the masses. Don’t just want the masses to worship you, and you use your position to oppress them.
“The followers should do everything possible not to give the leaders a headache, not to influence them. Some of these leaders, trying to amass wealth for themselves; it is the people, their followers, that are influencing them to do that. The followers, one of them would tell them, What you’re supposed to give the community, don’t give them; just give me my own and take the rest. That is the problem,” he added.
