The Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court has banned popular British rapper, Stormzy from driving for nine months in the UK.
The District judge, Andrew Sweet handed him the ban on Thursday after he pleaded guilty, via a letter, to driving while using a mobile phone in west Kensington on March 7 2024.
An off-duty police officer had caught Stormzy in London using the device behind the wheel of his Rolls-Royce vehicle.
Delivering judgement, the judge observed that Stormzy’s driving record was not good and criticised his dangerous actions.
The judge fined the rapper ÂŁ2,010 ($2,498) after an additional six points were added to his licence.
Prior to Thursday’s hearing, Stormzy had 6 points on his licence for a previous speeding offence.
