The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has assured that the Nigerian banking sector remains stable, sound, resilient, and safe.
President and Chairman of the Council, CIBN, Prof. Pius Olanrewaju, made the remark in a statement.
The CIBN president, who was reacting to publications in the media questioning the health of one of its financial institutions
pointed out that the assertions in the purported publications were not only misleading but also unfounded.
He further said they are no doubt designed to disrupt the ongoing reforms and steady progress being made to strengthen the Nigerian banking sector.
While noting that the institute aligns with the Central Bank of Nigeria in asserting that there is no cause for alarm, Prof. Olanrewaju urged the public to ignore false reports and rely on official sources.
He encouraged members of the public to continue to conduct their banking services without hesitation or apprehension.
