The Benue State Police Command has arrested two persons over the murder of an elderly woman accused of witchcraft in Egba village, Agatu Local Government Area of the state.
The command made this known in statement by its spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene.
The Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest of one Bako, 50, and Oyaje Clement, 40, for their alleged roles in the killing.
Anene described the incident, which occurred on Christmas Eve as a disturbing method of mob justice prevalent in the state and targeted at elderly people accused of witchcraft.
The police spokesperson advised members of the public to refrain from jungle justice and report perpetrators of such odious acts to security agencies.
