28 suspected masterminds of the killings in Yelewata, in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, have been arrested by the police.
Their arrest is coming less than one week after President Bola Tinubu’s directive.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun said the police are pursuing others involved in the killings in Yelewata.
He maintained that his officers are not overwhelmed, noting that they are mopping up light and small weapons illegally acquired by some individuals.
The IGP also disclosed that those arrested will be arraigned in court, alongside the 22 others who were apprehended in Jos over the gruesome murder of nine persons travelling to Quanpan for a wedding.
It would be recalled that a few weeks ago, suspected armed herders invaded Yelewata community and killed around 200 people.
Numerous properties were also destroyed in the community located in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
