….. Orders Audit of Finances
The Bauchi State Government has given approval for the immediate dismissal of the acting bursar of Sa’adu Zungur University, Ayuba Mohammed Gital.
The development was occasioned by alleged irregularities surrounding his appointment and financial conduct.
The state governor, Bala Mohammed, announced the dismissal on Tuesday while receiving the report of the Visitation Panel set up to resolve ongoing industrial disputes in the institution.
The panel’s findings prompted swift action from the government to restore accountability and transparency in the institution’s operations.
The governor revealed plans to form an audit committee as part of the measures to look into the university’s financial operations, especially the money coming from internal sources and students.
Although the government had previously taken a hands-off approach to the university’s finances, Governor Mohammed clarified that it would now step in to impose more stringent control.
He commended the panel for its comprehensive work, and assured that its recommendations would be presented to the State Executive Council for deliberation and implementation.
Earlier, while submitting the report, the panel’s chairperson, Professor Gambo Laraba, disclosed that the team consulted with key stakeholders, reviewed several memoranda, and assessed infrastructure across the university’s three campuses.
