Governors of the All Progressives Congress under the Progressive Governor Forum (PGF) have called for increased investment in surveillance technology by all tiers of government to curb the rising insecurity in some parts of the country.
The call is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Benin City, Edo State.
In the communique read by the chairman of the forum and governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, the progressive governors condoled with the people of Benue and Niger over recent killings in their areas.
They reaffirmed their call for community policing and a grassroots intelligence system, which they observed would prevent most attacks on communities.
The Progressive Governors acknowledged that the economic indicators were showing signs of recovery and insisted it was now time for expanded investment in food security, job creation, poverty eradication, MSMEs, and social safety nets for direct impact on ordinary Nigerians.
On the political front, the APC governor acknowledged the resignation of the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the party’s continued evolution and described the influx of more politicians into the party as an affirmation of public confidence in the party and in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
The Progressive Governors Forum reaffirmed their endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s government, policies, and programs, as well as his re-election in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
They called on all Nigerians to join hands with the president to develop the country.
