The Adamawa State Government is set to train 10,000 Youths on Catering, Welding, and other skills.
To this end, the government will commence the process of admitting 10,000 youths into the state’s 10 technical and training centres on Monday, 10 March 2025.
The Director-General of the state’s Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA, Dr Michael Zira, disclosed this while briefing members of the press in his office on Thursday.
According to the Director-General, the training, which will cover catering, welding, solar installation, tiling, tailoring, and other vocational skills, will be overseen by the agency.
He urged all interested candidates to contact the PAWECA desk officer in their respective local government areas to express their interest and commitment.
While reiterating his commitment to a transparent and credible selection process, Dr. Zira disclosed that a needs assessment and common entrance examination would be conducted to identify qualified candidates, who would then be given three choices of vocational training to select from.
The PAWECA Director-General added that students would be responsible for their feeding and accommodation to ensure only genuinely committed individuals enrol for the training.
The training is to last for three months, six months, or longer, depending on the course of study.
