Members of the Anambra State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, have protested against their poor working conditions in government-owned health institutions in the state.
Members of the association staged the protest during an interactive forum they organized in Okpuno Awka.
At the forum, the nurses complained about the poor implementation of their salary structure, known as CONHESS, among other things, stating that their pay remains the lowest among neighboring states.
The nurses took turn to express their grievances to the state chairperson of NANNM, Mrs. Edith Onwuka about the challenges they face in carrying out their duties.
The group called on the state government to listen to their cry for help and intervene as their working conditions continue to worsen daily.
In her response, Mrs Onwuka, assured the nuses that the leadership would reach out to the state government to resolve all pending issues.
She pleaded for patience among members of the group, expressing hope that their concerns would be addressed.
