Farmers in Jigawa State have been advised to begin preparations for the 2025 wet season farming.
The Technical Advisor on Agriculture and Food Security to the state Governor, Saifullahi Umar, gave the advice in a statement issued to newsmen.
He stressed on the importance of early preparation to maximize agricultural productivity in the coming season.
While noting that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released the 2025 rainfall predictions and estimated planting dates across Nigeria’s agroecological zones, Umar stated that rainfall is expected to be fully established by mid-June 2025, in Jigawa State.
He urged farmers to take note of the dates and adhere to climate advisories to ensure successful planting and harvest.
The technical advisor encouraged farmers to leverage government-backed agricultural programs and climate-smart practices for better yields.
He reassured them of the state government’s commitment to supporting agriculture through various interventions aimed at improving productivity and ensuring food security.
