
Nigerian military airstrikes targeting bandits have mistakenly killed no fewer than six persons at Yauni community of Zakka Ward in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was learnt that the situation has thrown the community into great shock and tears.
Sources who spoke on the incident disclosed that those killed were mostly members of a particular family, including a man, two women and three children.
The incident, which happened in the wake of last Saturday’s local government elections in the state, occurred after security operatives attempted to foil an attack planned by bandits against voters in Zakka village.
Eyewitnesses account stated that the police and members of the State Community Watch Corps, CWC, engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle where two police officers and a CWC operative were killed on the spot.
At the time of this report, the military and other relevant authorities have not reacted to the incident.
