The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Jos chapter, says it will embark on an indefinite strike over the unpaid June salary of its members.
A press statement signed by the University of Jos Branch Chairman, Prof. Jurbe Molwus, disclosed that the industrial action would take full effect as of 12:00 am on Friday, July 4.
According to the chairman, the decision to embark on the strike followed a resolution of its congress, held on June 4th, 2025.
The statement made available to journalists in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, on Thursday reads, “This is to request all members to abstain from lectures and statutory meetings if our salary for the month of June is not paid by 11:59 p.m.
“This is in line with the extant resolution of the National Executive Council that branches should take action when salary is not paid by the third day of a new month.
“It is also in line with our resolution during the congress held June 4, affirming this position.
“The action takes effect from 12:00 a.m on Friday, July 4”.
Prof. Molwus called on its members to fully comply with the directive until communicated otherwise.
